MFR2016 - Collection P1


Maker Faire Rome 2016 it was two weeks ago, but only now we found the time to put our hands on all the recordings to make our collection.

It will be an overview of exhibitors and individual projects and we will focus on the topics more interesting for our mindset.

ONO


The first ever smartphone 3D printer, with a street price of 99$ and 15$ for each liquid resin bottle. In the interview with company's promoter, we told about the printing technique and some issues of printing.





In particular, the printing begin with a smartphone brightness calibration, then you can print your 3D object from ONO's cloud app or you STL file previously loaded on your phone. All printings work only with the ONO's app, as you can see below.


The issiues. The printing occurs in the ONO's printer, that during the process it is sealed. Each solid or a liquid element can pollute the printing, during cleaning for example, but the solid parts can be removed with a strainer insted of  the liquid one.



In addition, dust and dirt are always lurking, can become part of the print, so it requires lots of attention from this point of view. All technical features can be found here.



DANYBOARD M0


Is a electronic prototyping platform with IOT capable. The core is a SAMD21 32bit ARM Cortex M0+ anche the other features are: Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, MicroSD Reader, RTC and Li-Po charger on board.


Danyboard M0 is designed to provide an efficient, fast, simple and cost effective solution to create IoT and wearable devices and more.


They just start their kickstarter from some days and they already have achieved the 50% of budget for distribution. Good luck.



BWAY


BWAY is an engineering & consulting company that have proposed some of its solution for industrial and IOT application.


The first appliance it was a PCIE campatible adapter, that working on 433MHz or 868MHz frequency for wireless application. Since the form factor is a PCI Express, you can change the onboard modem with any PCIE device and it will continue to work without problem regardless of the application.
In addition, through the FTDI port, it's possible to transform every UART in USB and connect your prefered actuator.


The second device is their IOT hub, Raspberry Pi and Arduino compatible, fully isolated.
Features:
- 3x 12V outputs with relays
- 16x inputs with 0-12V range
- 2x RS232 channels
- 4X RS485 channels



INFINEON


Infineon brought inside the fair its ready-to-use multicopter solutions. As a leading semiconductor company, they offered a complete system solution that includes XMC-controllers, iMotion motor control, magnetic sensors, and more.

The presented products have been only prototipes, not for commercial use, but we hope to find this solutions even on the marketplace in future. You can find every technical reference here.



Other interesting devices have been the Infineon's shield the 24V Protected Switch Shield with BTT6030-2EKA / BTT6020-1EKA,  the RGB LED Lighting Shield with XMC1202 Arduino compatible and the XMC™ Digital Power Explorer Kit.

The first Arduino compatible board is equipped with three PROtected high-side power MOSFETs out of the PROFET 24V family – Infineon’s protected high-side switches (BTT6xxx) driving resistive,capacitive as well as inductive loads.

The second one is able to drive up to 3 LED channels with constant current. The shield itself is powered by a programmable XMC 32-bit ARM® MCU with embedded Brightness Color Control Unit, for flicker-free LED dimming and color control.


At last, the new XMC™ digital power explorer kit. It utilizes Infineon’s industry leading XMC™ range of ARM ® Cortex ® -M microcontrollers. The load banks can be switched between 10%, 55% and 100% of the maximum load, so that the transient response and the quality of the control loop under different load conditions can be tested.


The kit also includes 2 different control card options, XMC1300 control card (ARM ® Cortex ® -M0) and XMC4200 control card (ARM ® Cortex ® -M4F) with isolated on-board debugger, which allow designers to easy evaluate both XMC™ microcontroller families and make the right price/performance choice for their application.
